In the Origins of Christianity, marriage was an eternal and holy union between two people, specifically a man and a woman. According to the Anglican Church, marriage is a gift from God, a symbol of unending love and is a representation of the union between Christ and the church (Aderlaide, n.d.). It is not a decision to be entered into lightly, but rather needs to be approached with joy, love and mutual respect, because through the eyes of Anglican theology it is a lifelong commitment which needs to be agreed to by mutual consent of the heart and mind (Aderlaide, n.d.)(Doctrine Committee Theology of Marriage). Due to the fact that marriage is also for the purpose of having children whilst keeping your innocence by having one life partner whom you only engage in lustful acts for the sake of reproduction, the choice of marriage should be contemplated. Conforming with the human condition of love and the need for loyalty and trust. (Doctrine Committee Theology of Marriage) |
