Divorce
Under the belief of the Anglican church divorce is not encouraged nor recommended, but it is acknowledged that marriages to fail due to diverse reasons, whether it be betrayal or from drifting apart (England, n.d.). Traditionally the Anglican church would not allow a divorced person to remarry, however in 2002 a decision was reached that under certain circumstanced a divorced person may remarry. This decision was reached because some marriages fail due to no fault of the individual remarrying. If a person wishes to remarry after divorce they must contact the priest or minister at the church the wish to marry, and inquire if they are eligible to remarry through the Anglican Church (England.org, n.d.). |
